You have come seeking the wisdom of Creative Home Movie.com.
Not surprising that you’d come to a 15-year television/film veteran to answer this age-old question.
Purchase a new PC, or invest in a Mac?

I strongly recommend a Mac loaded up with the latest version of OSX and iLife ‘09. (A brand new Mac will have all this already installed.)
Holy Shmoly, Scott! Really? I can buy a new PC with more RAM and a faster CPU, and I can buy it much cheaper. You’re out of your mind, dude.
I knew You’d be mad. But the MAC is a no-brainer.
As a professional, I rely on my computer to create great work on tight deadlines. My clients demand nothing less than my best.
I can count on my Macs to run without problems. I’ve had nothing but trouble with PCs.
If you already have a PC- no worries. There’s some great software that you can buy that works great.
I highly recommend Adobe Premiere Elements for your editing. It’s a great program.
The thing that you may want to be careful of is upgrading your system software. This is where problems usually crop up for PC users.
Consider it carefully if you would need to upgrade your PC hardware or system software in order to use the newer camera gear or editing software.
